The Contemporary Fine Art of Doug AmEnde
April 2011 (Salem, CT) – The Gilded Edge Custom Framing and Gallery continues its commitment to showcase renowned and emerging local artists in a new exhibit featuring the works of contemporary fine artist Doug AmEnde. A resident of Manchester, CT, AmEnde’s painting will be on display from April 12 thru May 28.
An artist reception will be held on Friday, April 15th, from 6-9pm and
is open to the public.
 A lifelong resident of Connecticut, AmEnde has had a longtime love affair with New England and the sea. His works have been featured in galleries and private collections throughout the country. Over the years, his artistic impressionistic style has evolved into expressive interpretation of the outside world, using light, shadow, and a unique method of blending color and texture to convey the varied moods of the seasons of New England.
“I believe the most important trait a person must have to be an artist is the ability to see and observe what others often miss, and to notice things that could be there one moment and gone the next,” says AmEnde. Although his subject matter tends to be traditional, the methods he uses to create his paintings are anything but. His works often feature elements of abstraction, including a unique method of blending and manipulating colors and creating texture. “I’ve spent a lifetime observing the world around me and capturing it on canvas,” says AmEnde. “Over the years, the mediums and styles have changed, but my passion has never wavered.”
