Earth, Wind & Fire” Interdisciplinary Exhibits
Salem, CT (April 17, 2007) – The Gilded Edge Custom Framing
and Gallery is pleased to present the works of three Connecticut artists in an interdisciplinary
exhibit entitled “Earth,
Wind & Fire”.
The exhibit features local East Hampton potter Elizabeth Mostello-Harris and the works of two other
Connecticut artists – intricate glass boxes and fused glass jewelry by Carol Ellen and original
hand-colored etchings by Carol Taylor.
“Earth, Wind & Fire” explores and celebrates the range of art created
from and inspired by the primary natural elements. In the words of Liz Harris, “Art should
be lived with, not just looked at.” This exhibit brings elemental art off the wall and into
everyday life.
Join The Gilded Edge for an Artist Reception this Friday, April 20th from 6 to 9pm.
It will be a festive celebration to talk with the artists about their crafts while enjoying wine,
food and door prizes.
About the Artist
Liz Harris is a resident of the Middle Haddam village of East Hampton where she creates one-of-a-kind
stoneware pottery at Goddess Earthworks. Her “fun, funky and functional” pieces
reflect the unique combination of her aesthetic sensibilities and creative exploration of form
and technique. She learned her craft at Wesleyan Potters where she took classes while in graduate
school earning an MD and PhD in immunology. It was not until after completing a residency to
become a family practice physician that Liz shifted her focus to embark on a career as a potter.
“Earth, Wind & Fire” will be on display through May 19th. The
Gilded Edge is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 5pm, Thursday from 10am to 7pm,
Saturday 10am to 2pm, and by appointment by calling 860-889-4903.
