“By Land & By Sea” Exhibit To Be On Display Through June 25th
Salem, CT ( May 25, 2005) – On Friday, May 20th, more than 100 people
crowded the gallery at The Gilded Edge to view an exhibit of works by local artist Elaine Juska
Keeley. Entitled “By
Land & By Sea,” the exhibit featured more than 20 equine, landscape and waterscape pastel
paintings.
Ms. Keeley’s work features striking images presented in rich, engaging tones that depict
a variety of settings from field and country scenes reminiscent of earlier times to life nourishing
koi ponds. The exhibit of framed pieces will be on display through June 25thand is open to the
public during regular store hours.
A resident of Lisbon, Ms. Keeley is a professional artist whose work has been juried into numerous
shows across the country. She has twice received scholarship awards from the Pastel Society of
America to further her studio at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme. Elaine is a member
of various local and national art associations including the Pastel Society of America, the American
Academy of Equine Arts, and the Connecticut Pastel Society, with whom she spent three yeas as Exhibition
Chairperson. She is currently the School Director for the Glastonbury Art Guild School in Glastonbury,
CT, where she teaches both adult and children’s classes. Additionally, she paints and offers
private lessons at her art studio in Colchester.
