Doug AmEnde - Contemporary Fine Art

The Contemporary Fine Art of Doug AmEnde
Artist's Statement

Camille Pisarro, the great impressionist, once said “Blessed are those who see beauty in humble places, where others see nothing”. I think this speaks to what I believe is the most important trait a person must have to be an artist…the ability to see; to observe what others often miss; to notice things that could be there one moment; gone the next. I’ve spent a lifetime observing the world around me and capturing it on canvas.

Over the years, mediums and styles have changed, but my passion has never wavered, and I know that every artistic road I’ve taken has led me to the work I am creating today.

Although my subject matter tends to be traditional, the methods I use to create my paintings are anything but, and often feature elements of abstraction, including a unique method of blending and manipulating colors and creating texture. Whatever the subject; whether a seascape, a landscape, or a still life, the final product is always vibrant, colorful, and decidedly unique.
