Refresh your artwork!
While the economy may dictate a tightening of the purse strings, you can still refresh and update
the art in your home and workplace. Usually the frame is the costliest item in custom framing.
But if a frame is in good condition and doesn’t scream in tones of 1970's avocado green,
you can update your art without replacing the frame. A fresh mat, a good cleaning and even new
glass can brighten your art and lift your spirits without depleting your wallet.
Protect your artwork
Aside from aesthetic reasons for framing art,
there is the preservation function of good framing. When framed art is not sealed properly, often
times damaging insects find the back side of a frame a pleasant place to cocoon or live. If you
have a valuable (monetarily or sentimentally) piece that was framed with regular picture glass,
you may want to consider the newer conservation or museum glasses that provide 99% UV protection.
Conservators are now even recommending glass for oils and acrylics, especially in homes with wood
or pellet stoves or cigarette smokers.
The Gilded Edge is happy to accommodate customers with large and
small custom
framing needs.
